Prenatal Yoga and Preparation for Childbirth

8 Session Course beginning on June 4th


A yoga practice that accompanies the transformations of pregnancy and prepares you for childbirth. In each session we will explore postures, breathing techniques and other yoga practices to gain energy and vitality, relieve fatigue and tension, improve strength and flexibility and to relax. In addition, we will address theoretical tools for childbirth preparation: anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and childbirth, relief of common pregnancy discomforts, emotional and psychological preparation for childbirth and the arrival of a baby, and the preparation of a birth plan.

It’s an opportunity to connect and breathe with your baby and to meet other moms-to-be.

No prior experience in Yoga practice is required.


Una práctica de yoga que acompaña las transformaciones de la gestación y te prepara para el parto. En casa sesión exploraremos posturas, respiraciones y otras prácticas de yoga para ganar energía y vitalidad, aliviar el cansancio y la tensión, mejorar la fuerza y flexibilidad y para relajarse. Además, abordaremos herramientas teóricas para la preparación del parto: anatomía y fisiología del embarazo y el parto, alivio de malestares comunes del embarazo, preparación emocional y psicológica para el parto y la llegada de un/a bebé y la preparación de un plan de parto.

Es una oportunidad para conectarte y respirar con tu bebé y para conocer a otras futuras mamás.

No se necesita experiencia previa en la práctica de Yoga.

About Giulia

Giulia Maero is a yoga teacher (YTT-500) and a doula. Trained in Prenatal Yoga, Postnatal Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga (YTT-200), Classical Restorative Yoga and Advanced Yoga Studies (YTT-300, Mount Madonna Institute). 
Current student in Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy program and Somatic Yoga.
Giulia Maero es maestra de yoga (YTT-500) y doula. Formada en Yoga Prenatal, Yoga Postnatal, Vinyasa Yoga (YTT-200), Yoga Clásico Restaurativo y Estudios Avanzados de Yoga (YTT-300, Mount Madonna Institute).
Actualmente se encuentra cursando Terapia de Yoga Ayurvédico y Yoga Somático.

About Antigua

Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. The city’s cobbled 9×9 block streets are slow paced, easy-to-navigate with cafes, farm-to-table restaurants, artisan markets, and historical sites located throughout. It’s renowned for its colorful Spanish colonial buildings, this beautiful and magical city has almost five hundred years of history, with a privileged all-year-long climate. If you visit Guatemala during February and March for our training, you can expect warm, dry days, with little to no rainfall. Temperatures average in the high 70s during this time.

Shakti Shala was born out of a desire to create a home for yoga in Antigua, Guatemala, where people from near and far could explore and expand in their yoga practice. Our studio is rooted in the Ashtanga lineage, which is reflected in our Mysore program, Ashtanga, Rocket & vinyasa classes, but we also offer gentle classes such as mellow and candlelit vinyasa.  Join our community, come discover this beautiful town, and practice with us.
