Mahisasuramardini
Music, Mythology, and Yoga Nidra with Sumeet Banerji
Wednesday, March 12th 5:30 - 7:00 pm
Sumeet Banerji is a lifelong student of sound, posture and dreaming. His studies in music began under the influence of his grandmother Sushri Shanti Banerji. Her guidance led him to ancient and esoteric branches of Indian music, giving him the confidence to study with world-renowned masters. Coming from an ancestral lineage of Shakti worshippers, Sumeet honors the energy of the divine feminine through his music and practice.
Based in San Francisco, where he has been practicing and teaching at Asta Yoga for more than eight years, he continues to develop and adapt these learnings to the contexts of sleep, meditation and subconscious exploration.
In celebration of the sacred feminine energy at the heart of the Shakti Shala community, we are honored to welcome Sumeet and his offering: Environments for Dreaming, Sound, and Rest. This special event combines yoga nidra, mythology, story-telling and a live acoustic set featuring musical patterns from India, to foster rest, meditation, and subconscious exploration.

About Antigua
Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. The city’s cobbled 9×9 block streets are slow paced, easy-to-navigate with cafes, farm-to-table restaurants, artisan markets, and historical sites located throughout. It’s renowned for its colorful Spanish colonial buildings, this beautiful and magical city has almost five hundred years of history, with a privileged all-year-long climate. If you visit Guatemala during February and March for our training, you can expect warm, dry days, with little to no rainfall. Temperatures average in the high 70s during this time.

Our studio is rooted in the Ashtanga lineage, which is reflected in our Mysore program, Ashtanga, Rocket & vinyasa classes, but we also offer gentle classes such as mellow and candlelit vinyasa.
